Preston

Preston is here! I've been meaning to get on and write down everything before I forget it so here it goes. The weekend of the 10th had arrived and still no Preston. Chapan and I were going crazy just sitting around starring at each other waiting for me to go into labor, so we decided to head down to salt lake and go out to dinner with friends. We also walked the mall for the millionth time trying to jump start labor. The next day Sunday we were suppose to have dinner with my family so we decided to just spend the night and go to church with them so we didn't have to drive up and down so much. ( also I couldn't face going to our ward again still pregnant). By the end of church on Sunday I had started a lower back ache, which was different from my normal back ache. It lasted through all the way through dinner that night and by then I was trying to figure out if I was on labor or not. Chapan said maybe we should stay at my parents for another night because it was 10 min. Away from the hospital but I didn't want to stay if I weren't really in labor. So I called our lovely neighbor who is a Douala. She came over and after talking I decided to head home to payson. I figured I would probably be in the begging stages of labor for a while. Chapan and I drove home and went to bed. My back ached all through the night and by 5 am I decided to jump in the bath tub and soak to see if it would ease the pain and to see if it was real labor or not. As soon as I got in my back felt better, but then I started to notice pain that would come and go in my back and I thought contractions were felt in our abdomen. Not the case. I started timing them and they were coming every 5-6 minutes. (Our doctor told us to leave payson when they were 7 minutes apart so I yelled for Chapan. I still wasn't sure if this was true labor or not cuz I could talk through the contractions so Chapan and I decided to take a shower and head to the hospital. I soon found out why everyone says the car ride is the worst! Every bump made everything hurt worse! In the car my contractions were 4-5 minutes apart and all I could do was sit and breath through them. Chapan was sure I was going to be very vocal during labor but I was determined to not be one of those women you see screaming.

We made it to the hospital around 8 am Monday morning. They checked me in and got us in a room and by this time I'm doing some very heavy breathing to get through each contraction. The nurse checked me and I was 4 cm and 80% effaced. I asked for an epidural and had to wait a little while for the anisteologist to get out of a c section. As soon as I got it I was in pure heaven! I fell asleep and pretty much dozed on and off for the rest of labor. We kept waiting for my doctor to come down and break my water but my water broke on its own before he could make it down. By 1:40 my doctor came to check on me and I was sound asleep. Chapan had to wake me up so the doctor could check me. I was 10 cm and +2 and ready to go. I still wanted to sleep and told the doctor to just catch him when he slid out. He said he couldn't do that and it was time for me to go to work. All I wanted to do was sleep for the rest of the day, but I guess that wasn't in the plan. So at 2:10 I started pushing and shortly after they had to go find the doctor to deliver. I had to wait and not push through 3 contractions, but my body didn't listen it was going to do the work whether they wanted me to or not. Thankfully I didn't push cuz by the time the Doctor got there and asked me to push he started to yell for me not to push cuz preston's head was already out. Chapan said his head went from showing a little to all the way out! At 2:48 Preston made his enterance into the world, all 8 lbs 10 oz. 21 inches of him. I always said I didn't want a 9 pound baby and I didn't, but just barley. He came out so fast that I tore. I think my doctor said it was a 2. Thankfully I had my epidural I didn't feel a thing. It was an amazing experience. It was so much better than I thought it was going to go I could easily do it again!
This is preston with my wonderful nurse Ashely!

8 lbs. 10 oz.!!! Big Boy

He's a little camera shy!

He came out screaming and he's been screaming ever since

My water did break on it's own waiting for my doctor and it showed a little miconium in so they were going to call in the NICU team but he came out so fast and screaming he said he was just fine and didn't need them. I had a wonderful doctor and team of nurses. One nurse became one of the family and Preston fell in love with her right away. She was the first one to calm him down after he was born with the famous bum pat. Preston loves having his bum patted it calms him down and puts him to sleep even to this day. :) His personality is already really strong and I can tell he's going to be a lively one. We can't believe how much he looks like Chapan, it's like mini chapan or mini chips :) We love him a lot.
