Payson or Bust...

Well it is offical! We have moved out of the basesment. :) Right after we graduated last July we moved into my parents basement until we could find a place to live. We said oh we will be here for 3 months at the max. One year later, and we finally moved out. After many months and months of searching for a house to buy we decided that, that wasn't in the cards for us right now. So, instead we moved to Payson, UT. Chapan has been driving to and from Payson since April and the commute was really hard on him. (which I don't blame him, I've only driven Payson to West Jordan and back a couple of times and it isn't fun, exspecially in rush hour.)  We found a nice little town home to rent until next spring/summer when Chapan's job should be finished.
We love it here. We live close to the canyon where we get a nice little breeze that comes down. Also we can see all the beautiful fall colors that are changing right now! So pretty. Moving when your 7 1/2-8 months pregnant wasn't too awful. I had one job to do. Pack up the apartment before moving day, and I'm glad to say that I succeeded! It took about 30 min. For the wonderful priesthood in our ward to move all the boxes out of the apartment into the trailer. It all fit, thank goodness. I was beginning to worry when I saw how fast it filled but thankfully there was no need to worry. My family was so wonderful at helping us move and they stuck around to help me unpack so I wasn't doing it all myself. Thank you family!!!
All in all we are all settled in and just trying to ready everything for little baby boy. I think I have everything ready. His room is all set up and his cloths are washed my hospital bag is all packed and ready to go. We went to the doctor on Friday and I'm dilated to 1 1/2 cm. I still have 3 1/2 weeks till mt due date and the doctor says not to worry he thinks I'm in it for the long hall. Chapan is so excited to be a daddy and Preston is already a daddy's boy. As soon as dad comes home from work he starts bouncing around. Most of the time when Chapan lays his head or hand on my stomach Preston answers any question with a kick or punch. I can tell I'm going to be out numbered.
I'm going to apologize for any mistakes, I'm doing this all from my phone. I can't figure out how to add pictures yet so I'll try another time.

I think that is all for now. Until next time!!!

Getting Things Done

This past weekend we went to Rexburg to see my old roomate, Nichole, Graduate! Go Nichole!!!! It was so nice to be able to celebrate with her and all that she has accomplished. Chapan and I graduated over a year ago (holy cow that went fast!!!) so we understand what an accomplishment that is!
Here Nichole is shaking hands with her best friend President Clark!! (he's the President of BYUI)

This is a really bad picture of me but here is the proof that I was there!

We were also very lucky to have some wonderful friends that are still living in Rexburg so they let us crash on their floor. Thanks Christine and Brady!!! We had so much fun. We didn't stay long but we definantly made sure that we hit up G's Dairy before we left. We couldn't very well go all the way up to Rexburg and not have Chapan's most favorite ice cream!!! To bad I didn't get a picture of us there to remember the moment.
Well any way we packed Nichole up and brought her back to Utah with us so she could catch her flight out to New Hampshire but before she left she took some maternity pictures for me!!! Love her! Those are coming shortly. (hopfully I look better in those then the one above, I'm sure I will cuz Nichole takes beautiful pictures) I can't wait to see them!

We also made a big step forward getting ready for Preston. We Bought a Crib and dresser/changing table!!! It seems so weird to think that 3 months from now we probably will have baby!!! Eek!!! How did I even get here. It took some shopping around to finally pick out the crib but we found one!
The dresser and changing table is the bottom part of the hutch in the right of this picture. When we bought the crib the sales lady told me that the company plants 10 trees every time a crib is purchased to replace the trees that were used to build the crib. Love that! I can't wait to put it up in Preston's room. Now we just have to find a room to put it all in, which is a whole nother can of worms. But soon we will have a room for him and then I can start to put the nursery together!!! Can't wait till that time.

The Secrets Out

I can finally talk about something very exciting. We are having a baby!!!! It's something that we have been praying and trying for, for 2 years and finally we are here. I am at the moment 20 weeks and we found out we are having a BOY!!!!
I felt for a while that we were going to have a boy. I would say the baby names out loud and talk to the baby and the girl name just never felt right, but the boy name seemed to just fit. Chapan on the other hand has been calling our little baby he or him since we found out we were pregnant. He wanted a little boy so bad. He wanted a little buddy that he could play with and teach to ride bikes like the Konkright men do. :) So neddles to say when the ultra sound tech. said it was a boy he was on cloud nine.
It seems very sureal that this is happening. Many people don't know that we have miscarried 2 times before this, so to wrap it around my head that this baby is staying has been a little hard. The first time we got pregnant I was scared. The second time we got pregnant I was so excited, and the third time we got pregnant I was terrified. I was terrified of opening my heart, just to have it ripped away again. So, I kept it quite. I didn't want to tell anyone. One of the hardest things to do after you lose a baby is telling everyone. So I wanted to keep this secret for as long as I could. Which wasn't easy because I show early. By 10 weeks my belly is starting to pooch. I started to cover up as much as I could. We would be doing yard work outside and it would be 70-80 degrees and I'd be wearing a hoodie. My mom and husband tried to convince me to embrass the belly, but I couldn't. I started growing out of my cloths and my husband would tell me to go buy maternity cloths but I would refuse. I couldn't bare the thought of buying cloths just to lose my baby and have to live with them staring at me in my closet. I didn't want to buy anything until I knew that this baby was going to stick around.
When we finally made it pass the first trimester I was in shock. I'd never made it to this point before and I didn't know what to do. I lived from doctors visit to doctors visit. Hoping that each time we went that his heart beat was still there and it was. Slowly the realization that this baby was going to stick around started to sink in and now I can't believe it we are half way through!
Chapan has been wonderful through it all. I've been very emotional, mostly in the very begining and he just snuggles me and lets me cry. He told me if I ever had a late night craving for Pizza that he would more than willing get one for me.... only if I shared with him of course :) He loves pizza. I think the best thing is, is when he texts me from work to tell me how big the baby is now or what he's suppose to be doing in that week of pregnancy. So cute! Chapan loves to take me to the baby stores to do research as well. We haven't started buying things yet but we have been to every baby store we can think of to price things out. He has fallen in love with a certain stroller/ car seat combo. :) Good thing we have the same taste. I love him so much. He's going to make a wonderful dad.

This is the first shirt I bought for our baby. It's a 4T but I figured he'd eventually grow into it! I couldn't pass it up. It's a bike shirt!

This is somthing that he will actually fit into when he comes

(front)

(back) So cute!

I can't believe that I actually bought baby cloths! That seems so weird to me. I realize if I wait to much longer that I'll have a baby and no baby stuff. So I guess it's time to start stocking up. Now if we could just find a place to live so we can have everything set up before this little one comes we will be ready to go.

I was doing so well...

I had a good couple of months. I had a goal to write every month but as we all know it didn't last long. The good thing about goals is that you can always start over, so here goes take 2.

Every time I would go to write a new post I just didn't feel that I had anything of importance to say but now I have good news to share! After almost a year of Chapan wishing and praying he finally has the job he's wanted since graduation. He's back with his beloved Layton. Today was his first day on the job and I think he was as excited as a child on their first day of school. :)

Now that we have the job that we want now we need to decide where we want to live. Do we want to buy a house, or a town home or do we want to rent. The job is down in Payson which is south of Provo. How far south do we want to move? Also the project will last for about a year and a half and then we could be moved to another project in Utah or it could be some place totally different. How do you figure this all out? Buying is kind of scary, it's a big purchase! But at the same time we are excited to have our own place to call our own. Since we've been married we have lived in Rexburg college apartments and my parents basement. Both have served us well and were right for the time, but now I think it's time for something new, something different. Anyone know what that is because I'm not sure I do. Oh the excitment of the unknown! :)

Easter Sunday was wonderful! The speakers had me in tears in no time, which isn't always that hard to do. :) Papa Bear was one of them and I always love to hear my daddy talk. I also was asked to sing.... Lets just say it wasn't my best work. But the spirit was still there and very strong. It was a wonderful spiritual boost that I needed. I am thankful for my Savior and all that he has done for me. He lives!!!

Hook 'em Horns

So I am quite sure that our Texas Friends/Family will see the title for this blog post and a warm feelings will overcome them as they think that Chapan is trying to become a true Texan. Sorry, I will explain the title as the post goes on.. Not that I don't think Texas is pretty cool, I mean it is the place that Kami's Brothers and Sisters in law call home, my dad and his uncles were raised there, and my Uncle Danny lives there still today. I was just out on a bike ride the other day and was wearing my UT jersey and reflecting on one of the bike races that I won when I was in high school. When I crossed the finish line in a panic because my friend who was spectating after finishing his race started yelling at me telling me someone was right behind me (turns out he was part of the race that started after mine) and instead of doing the hands up in the air excited for winning I did the hook em horns so that I didn't fall off my bike looking like an idiot after the race. So, you might be asking what it has to do with anything pertinent to this blog post? Valid question, absolutely nothing, but at the same time maybe everything you (the reader) decide.. As I steamed down the road (on my bike ride) I had a few thoughts that had matured into a bucket list as the ride progressed. Some of you may be reading this and say I never knew these things about Chapan, count this as a rare glimpse into my head you might only get a few.
The first thought that I had was to have a bike shop. I would love to one day own an independent bike shop where I can spend my days enjoying one of my favorite hobbies, especially if I could make the shop have the feel that I want it to have. I really like the feel of the old Lakeview Hardware store in Battle Creek complete with its hardwood floors, and nice storefront windows. It would be a dream to have a shop fashioned after this craftsmanship of the previous generations. It was a dream of my Grandpa's to have a shop one day and he had things in motion to start a shop up in Michigan but didn't have a place to open the shop. He was going to be one of the first Trek Bicycle Dealers in the state.
Second thought I had was about how much I want to start a nonprofit organization. As crazy as it sounds I would like to buy up housing in low income areas and flip them hoping to help people out the way that Habitat for Humanity does. One of my favorite movies of all time is Its a Wonderful life, and this dream comes from the work that George Bailey put into the building and loan to help people live the American dream without becoming a slave to corporations that are only seeking after monetary gain.
The third thought that I had was that I want to become a master of Design Build Delivery System. You might be wondering what design build is? In a traditional system an owner will initiate a project hire an architect who will then design a building and then once all of that is done they will put the plans out to bid by a general contractor. A design build project can start one of a few ways, an owner will select a design build firm who will choose an architect (or the architect is part of the design build firm), or the owner will choose a Contractor and an Architect at the same time, and the design begins with the contractor involved. This system typically makes more sense in the building industry because it integrates the whole project team instead of dividing it. Its harder from one point because the contractor needs to be a lot more aware of what is going on in the process (changes happen all the time). Its just a lot more intense than traditional building which is why I want to master it. The project that I worked on with Layton Construction last fall was a pseudo design build and it was a lot of fun being in that type of environment versus that of a traditional delivery system.
Lastly for the sake of this blog post I kinda enjoy writing (if you couldn't tell by the length of this post), and I think it would be fun to have a blog or some other means of testing out bicycle equipment and writing my impressions of it. How cool would it be for people to send me parts to ride for a period of time as a form of marketing?
Well, I think I have written my fingers off for one night. If anyone makes it to the end of this congratulations. I might actually post on here again sometime..
